How well can Natural Laundry Detergent really clean?
They say not to air your dirty laundry, but when you make natural laundry soap perhaps we can make an exception?
Oh yeah! That’s my dirt. Now before you go judging me for my incomparably dirty laundry, let me just say that I had a good reason…
See those adorable little babies? Yup, they’re my reason. They got stuck trying to come into this world. I mean more than just a little stuck-they got STUCK! I managed to save a pile of adorable piggies but my jeans… well, yeah, lets get a close up of that again…
Ugh! If you think it looks bad just be glad that smells don’t transmit over the internet. It was RANCID. I should have tossed them right? After all, some smells just don’t come out right?
However, I’ve often been asked how well my laundry soap works and I’ve listened to many people tell me they are afraid to try another natural laundry soap as the last one they tried “just didn’t clean.”
I decided this was the perfect opportunity to put our Goat Milk Laundry Soap to the test. I loaded the jeans in the washer, added 2 tablespoons of Free Reign Farm’s Goat Milk Laundry Soap . For this particular specimen, I knew I had an abundance of oil ground into the jeans so I added 1/2 cup of vinegar to the wash to aid in cutting the grease stains. I then held my nose, slammed the lid and walked (ok ran) away. No pre-soak, no bleach, no stain remover, that’s it.
What I came back to was:
The best part? There’s absolutely NO smell to them what so ever! The laundry soap is unscented and it actually removed ALL the stench without having to mask it. So there you have it, a pile full of adorable piggies and a pair of jeans that don’t look any worse for wear! Pretty impressive for 2 tablespoons of laundry soap and 1/2 cup of vinegar.

I have a small Montessori preschool and I am always looking for help in the cleaning department..just thinking of your laundry soap.. cleaning product etc
This laundry soap is AMAZING!! For decades I have been so faithful to the name brand detergents that we all know very well that have those strong “clean” perfumes to them until my husband had had enough. He told me he couldn’t continue wearing both his work and casual clothes that were saturated in strong fragrances. I even tried the fragrance free choices these detergents also came in. Well, he ended up breaking out in what looked like an allergic reaction. Finally, as I walked into this boutique I saw this little white sack with the words that read, “GOAT MILK LAUNDRY SOAP” I thought to myself, hmm, it won’t hurt to try it. Let me tell ya, I’m so glad I did!! There’s a saying that goes, happy wife happy life Wellll I also believe in happy spouse happy house! My husband is so glad I use this laundry soap. All our clothes come out so clean and don’t even get me started on our whites! They’re brighter than they’ve ever been before. I can honestly say, I will never use any other laundry soap but Goat Milk Laundry Soap.
I love your detergent but occasionally the little chunks don’t dissolve completely and leave little white spots on my clothing. What can I do?
hi Marita,
I’m sorry to hear you are having this issue. A couple things should help. First always make sure to wash in hot or warm/hot water. The soap dissolves slower in cold or warm/cold settings. Second make sure you aren’t using too much. An HE washer with a full size load should use no more than 1 tbs. Also it helps to add the soap directly to the wash instead of in the detergent drawer. Also avoid using the “quick wash” setting on the washer and opt for a full or even extended wash cycle.
